Jim Barclay
Actor and alternative comedian
South Shields-born Jim Barclay was part of the early alternative-comedy movement, appearing at the Comedy Store in 1979 alongside performers including Alexei Sayle. His act mixed political comedy with surreal ideas, and he was involved in the Alternative Cabaret network.
Children’s television brought him another audience when he played Jossy Blair in the BBC series Jossy’s Giants.
