James Casey
Performer, writer and producer

James Casey was Jimmy James’s son and Eli Woods’s cousin. He joined his father’s act in the late 1940s, then developed a career writing and producing BBC comedy. His eye for talent helped Ken Dodd and Les Dawson reach radio audiences, and he championed both men when their broadcasting careers were still being established.
After retiring from the BBC in 1982, Casey returned to the stage. He revived his father’s sketches with Woods and Roy Castle, including an appearance at that year’s Royal Variety Performance. Casey and Woods continued performing the act for the following 25 years.
