James Bolam and Rodney Bewes

James Bolam and Rodney Bewes both built substantial acting careers, but their partnership as Terry and Bob in The Likely Lads and Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? secured their place in television comedy. Their characters offered a lasting portrait of friendship and changing lives in the North East.

Bewes later described a falling-out and a separation lasting around 40 years. Bolam gave a different account in 2017: he denied a feud and said that their separate, busy lives explained the loss of contact.
