Gudrun Ure

Gudrun Ure’s long acting career included stage work in the 1950s and decades of television appearances. For North East viewers, her defining comic role was the title character in Tyne Tees Television’s Super Gran, which ran from 1985 to 1987.

As the superpowered grandmother, she battled the Scunner Campbell against the familiar backdrop of Tynemouth, Whitley Bay and South Shields. Ure died in May 2024, aged 98.
