George Romaine

George Romaine was a singer and regular performer on Tyne Tees Television’s weekday One O’Clock Show in the early 1960s. He appeared alongside Terry O’Neill, Austin Steele and other entertainers during the formative years of daily regional television variety.

Remembered as ‘Mr One O’Clock’, he is also said to have had an earlier football connection with Grimsby Town. A backstage story tells of producers insisting that he wear a toupee despite his objections.
