The Dixielanders
Comedy double act: Bobby Hooper and Billy Martin
Bobby Hooper and Billy Martin each had careers on the northern club circuit before performing together as the Dixielanders. Their double act grew into the Dixielanders Music Hall near Newcastle, featured in a BBC radio programme in 1976.
The music hall is remembered for years of packed houses. The duo also released an LP, The Fabulous Dixielanders, on Zima Records, preserving their regional comedy alongside surviving television performances.
