Sid James
Comic actor
Sid James’s weathered face and unmistakable laugh became familiar features of the Carry On films. His career also included television comedy and live theatre.
On 26 April 1976, while appearing in The Mating Season at Sunderland Empire, James suffered a heart attack onstage. He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
