James Weams
Comedian, musician and songwriter

James Weams was a Durham-born musician, comedian and songwriter who wrote in the local dialect. His songs were collected in a Tyneside songbook published in 1887.
Neighbours Belaw finds comedy in the frustrations of living in an upstairs flat and dealing with the people below. Another of his songs, The Lass on the Quay, also entered the regional repertoire.
