Ian La Frenais

Ian La Frenais came from Monkseaton and worked in sales and market research before becoming a full-time screenwriter. Meeting Dick Clement, from Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex, led to a long and productive writing partnership.

Their work crossed television and film, with credits including The Likely Lads, Porridge, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and The Commitments.
