Honey Lingus
Drag performer

Honey Lingus was the drag persona of Martin Greenfield, who moved from Hong Kong to the North East at eighteen. Honey developed on Newcastle's LGBTQ+ scene in the late 1990s. Close friend Mark Stephenson remembered them as probably among the city's first Black drag queens when they began performing in 1997 or 1998.
Stephenson described a gifted singer and exacting perfectionist whose presentation made Honey the most beautiful person in the room. His tribute also remembered their courage and pioneering presence, celebrating a performer who helped make space for others by being themself.
