George House

George House presented the first local BBC television news bulletin from Newcastle in 1959, at the beginning of the regional service. He became a familiar broadcasting face alongside Mike Neville.

The pair also brought their comic talents to Scott Dobson’s Larn Yersel’ Geordie material. House performed dialect sketches at the annual Geordierama shows at Newcastle City Hall, and recordings from those performances preserved the partnership. He is also credited with working with Neville and Dobson on dialect books.
