Duggie Small
Comedian and impressionist

Duggie Small was a Scottish-born comedian and impressionist who settled with his family in the Newcastle area. Born in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, he built an energetic variety act around props and impressions, including his signature transformation into Superman from a telephone box. He won the New Faces final on 13 December 1986.
That television breakthrough proved brief. Small returned to clubs, summer seasons, pantomimes and holiday camps, disappointed that the victory had not brought the lasting television career he had hoped for. He continued devising ideas for programmes and seeking another opportunity to appear on screen.
