Chris Donald

Chris Donald founded Viz in Newcastle in 1979, with help from Simon Donald and Jim Brownlow. The comic began on a small scale, with copies sold around local pubs, before growing into one of Britain’s biggest-selling magazines.

Its irreverent humour became an important part of the North East’s alternative-comedy story. Donald later told the story of the comic’s beginnings and rise in his book Rude Kids.
