LAUREN PATTISON

Lauren Pattison started doing stand-up at 18, which is an age when most people should barely be trusted with a provisional driving licence, never mind a microphone.

She came through the North East comedy circuit before taking her debut show Lady Muck to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017. It sold out, picked up a Herald Angel Award and earned her a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.

Five years later she did it again, only bigger. It Is What It Is was nominated for the main Best Comedy Show award in 2022. That's two different Edinburgh Comedy Award nominations. We are keeping count. This is a Hall of Fame.

Lauren has since performed across the UK and internationally, with appearances and runs in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and beyond, as well as television, radio and major comedy clubs and festivals.

The important bit, though, is that none of the success required sanding the North East off her. The voice, attitude and point of view travelled with her.

Lauren represents a generation of comics proving that a career can start on stages up here and carry on pretty much anywhere.
