Norman Turnbull
Songwriter

Norman Turnbull was a shipping clerk who wrote songs in his spare time. His dialect material found a wider audience through Wot Cheor Geordie, becoming part of the North East’s radio entertainment tradition.
He is said to have kept four West Highland terriers, named Peter, John, Phyllis and Brown Teeth.
